The Omsk State Musical Theater is one of the leading theaters in the city of Omsk, whose repertoire includes musical works of various genres, from classical opera to innovative ballet. 

History

The Omsk Theater of Musical Comedy was founded in 1946 by order of the Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR. The creative base of the theater was a group of actors from the Stalingrad Theater. The first director was A.Yu. Egintov, D.L. Paley, the musical director, and B.S.Marin was the main artist, A.N. Orlov was the main director, N.I., the leading soloist of the Leningrad Maly Opera House was the head of the ballet department. Kalashnikov and the teacher of the Omsk Music College E.V. Kalugina were invited to work with the choir, People's Artist of the Tajik SSR, Honored Artist of the Uzbek SSR L.N. Itskov became the first artistic director.

The grand opening of the theater, housed in the former building of the Public Assembly (an architectural monument of the 19th century, Lenin St., 25), took place on May 24, 1947. The theater has repeatedly received prizes and awards for its performances.

In 1981, the theater acquired the status of a musical theater, and soon moved to a new building, the grand opening of which took place on January 29, 1982.

In 1990 B.L. Rotberg became the director of the theater. At this time, overseas trips to the United States began.
