NDR State Broadcasting Center – Great Broadcast Hall

The Lower Saxony State Broadcasting Center of the NDR with the Great Broadcast Hall is located on the banks of the Maschsee. It is both a rehearsal location and a venue for the NDR Radiophilharmonie, the NDR symphony orchestra in Hanover.

The orchestra's CD and live recordings are also recorded here. By installing special ceiling sails with integrated lighting, the acoustics of the large broadcasting hall are also optimal for the audience in the hall.
The room is also rented to other concert organizers; the stage offers space for around 140 musicians. Classical concerts for a large audience take place here almost every weekend - the NDR Radio Philharmonic alone plays here 60 times a year.

The large broadcasting hall is a white block based on a hexagonal floor plan, which rests on the glass foyer on the ground floor. The hall, which offers around 1,200 seats in the audience area, was inaugurated in 1963 and is a listed building. The stage was renovated in 2020 and now offers new variability for different orchestra line-ups as well as better acoustic conditions.

People with hearing impairments can enjoy all concerts and events via the installed hearing system in designated seats in the large broadcasting hall. However, the prerequisite is that the personal hearing aid is equipped with a so-called T-coil.
