The art center, which was built by Bakırköy Municipality in 2013 to exhibit opera productions and concerts on behalf of Leyla Gencer, the important name of Turkish opera, and whose architectural design was made by Cemal Mutlu Architecture, opened on October 10, 2013.
Leyla Gencer Opera and Art Center has a closed area of 10.000 m2, a stage of 300 m2 and a hall capacity of 1000 people. Leyle Gencer Opera and Art Center, which is the only opera house on the European side with an open-air auditorium for 250 people, competes with the world stages with its acoustic features.
