Globe Wien

The Globe Wien is an event space in the St. Marx district in the 3rd district of Vienna Landstrasse in the Marx Halle, where theater, cabaret, comedy, and music events take place all year round.

The Globe Wien was opened on October 7, 2014, by its owners, Michael Niavarani & Georg Hoanzl, operators of the Hoanzl company of the same name. The design and layout of the stage are based on William Shakespeare's historic Globe Theater.

The schedule plan focuses on humorous content. Numerous theater, cabaret, comedy, and music events have already attracted great public interest. Michael Niavarani's comedic adaptations of the Shakespeare material "Richard III." And "Romeo & Juliet" saw around 200,000 people. Austrian cabaret artists such as Josef Hader, Andreas Vitásek, Gernot Kulis, Omar Sarsam, Klaus Eckel, Thomas Stipsits, Alex Kristan, Gery Seidl, Viktor Gernot, and many more play their current programs here, plus guest performances by German-speaking colleagues such as Michael Mittermeier, Kaya Yanar, Carolin Kebekus or Hazel Brugger. In addition to international guests such as John Cleese in 2019, in-house productions are also on the program.

Due to a fire in the Marx Halle on September 10, 2017, and the resulting damage to the roof structure, the Globe Vienna site was closed for a year. In October 2018 the newly built Globe Vienna was reopened in another area of the Marx Halle. Since then, the public space can be set up variably for 550 to 1400 visitors as required. The seats on the ground floor are barrier-free. With three bar areas and additional rooms, the foyer offers space for up to 1,500 guests.
