Overview
Visiting Colonia del Sacramento is a golden opportunity for history lovers. In fact, Colonia del Sacramento has been included in the list of Cultural Patrimonies of Humanity of Unesco since 1995, due to the Historic Quarter where there are still remains of the first Portuguese Settlement on the Plata River in 1680, as well as a rich Spanish heritage of the following centuries.Enjoy the historical atmosphere of the old town with its uneven stone streets, the wall and gate that closed the Colonial City, the lighthouse, and typical Portuguese and Spanish residences of the 17th and 18th centuries.You will also pass along Riverside Avenue which leads you to Real San Carlos where you can see the Bullfighting Arena built in the early 20th century. This tour also includes a visit to Granja Arenas, a traditional farm of Colonia, famous for the Museum of Collections, unique in the world, and for the jam factory where you will try delicious jams of different kinds as well as the typical Swiss made in Colonia.
