Overview
This city tour of German heavyweight Mannheim combines sightseeing from the comfort of a coach with some exploring on foot. Located between the Rhine and Neckar rivers, Mannheim serves up a generous dose of history in the form of age-old churches and Baroque architecture. You’ll do a whistle-stop tour on the coach past some of its key points of interest – like the National Theatre, the Kurpfalzbrucke bridge, and the Messplatz Square, which was home to an old fire station. Afterwards, you’ll continue your tour on foot, entering the beautiful Jesuit Church and passing through the sprawling green space that is Schillerplatz Park. You’ll also spy the 18th-century Mannheim Palace before you return to the ship. This Baroque masterpiece is the largest of its kind in Germany, and partly used today as a university.
