Overview
Discover some of the best wineries in the enchanting region of the Alpilles in the heart of Provence. During the wine tour, you'll visit quaint villages such as Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, medieval and Roman sites such as the town of Glanum, and also have time to attend a spectacular art and light show in Les Baux-de-Provence.Admire the picturesque vineyards located 400 meters above sea level and enjoy the scents of thyme, rosemary, and marjoram that permeate the landscape on the northern and southern slopes of the Alpilles. You will visit three or five wineries and taste up to twenty wines, mainly fleshy, robust, full-bodied reds. The varieties of the AOC Baux are primarily Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah, but also Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Counoise.Visit the archaeological site of Glanum, where you'll see an outstanding collection of Roman architectural remains, and the Carrières de Lumières (Quarries of Lights) in Les Baux-de-Provence, a major artistic site, where digital light exhibitions are held all year long. On Wednesday and Saturday, you'll also be able to taste Provençal delicacies such as the reputable olive oil of Provence, fruit and vegetables, fish and seafood, meat and "charcuterie" products in the market of Saint-Rémy.
