Overview
Experience the beauty of the Knuckles mountain range during this full-day 10-mile trekking excursion. The Sinhalese refer to it as "Dumbara Kanduvetiya", meaning "the mist-laden mountain range" and its name comes from a series of recumbent folds and peaks in the west of the massif which resembles the knuckles of clenched fists when viewed from afar.Early start at 6:00am with a pick-up from your hotel and arrival at the destination after 1.5 hours. During the hike, enjoy the many attractions the Knuckles Conservation Forest has to offer. You might be lucky enough to spot some wildlife including wild boar, spotted deer, big squirrels, purple-faced monkey, and the leaf-nosed lizard. Home to more than 200 species of birds, this park hosts a great diversity of dry evergreen, montane, and sub-montane forests. The 20% of plants found here are endemic and include a wide range of hardwood and herbal plants.During the hike, you will marvel at the 7 waterfalls Don't miss a dip into a natural cool water pool by the highest waterfall. You can enjoy a short vertical climb to the top of the falls and witness the breathtaking view of the landscape.
