Overview
Depart in the morning from your resort from Costa Navarino to discover Athens' picturesque district of Plaka and the Acropolis Museum, one of the most important archaeological museums in the world. Once you've arrived in Athens your first stop will be at the Parthenon, built in honour of the goddess Athena for saving the city. Here you'll spend a couple of hours discovering the symbol of civilization and democracy. Next, you'll be taken to the Erechtheion, which took its name from the mythical king Erechtheus. On the south side of the temple you-ll have also the opportunity to admire the "caryatids". After a couple of of brief stops at The Temple of Athena Nike, Korinthos Canal and The Propylaea, you'll have some time to explore the Plaka, the old historical neighbourhood of Athens. Clustered around the northern and eastern slopes of the Acropolis, and incorporating labyrinthine streets and neoclassical architecture, Plaka is built on top of the residential areas of the ancient town of Athens. It is known as the "Neighborhood of the Gods" due to its proximity to the Acropolis and its many archaeological sites. After about two hours walking around the main archaeological site, you'll end your tour with a visit to the Acropolis Museum, one of the most modern and impressive museums in the world.
