Overview
Today you will travel to the coastal temple town of Mahabalipuram. Full of spectacular rock-sculptures and monuments, Mahabalipuram or Mamallapuram is a hot favorite destination. Once there, proceed to the Shore Temple. Your next stop is Arjuna’s Penance, a gigantic bas-relief, dating back to the 7th century, and it remains one of the most famous rock carvings in Mahabalipuram. After that, you will have some leisure time now and it will be a good idea to spend a relaxing afternoon at the scenic golden beach, lapped by the azure waters of the sea. In the afternoon, go on an exploratory tour of Mahabalipuram. Experience the local way of life here. Finally, it will be time to drive back to your hotel in Chennai and reach it around 4.00pm.
