Overview
Prepare yourself to discover the downtown of Cairo with a local guide. This experience is part of STEP, a selection of walking tours designed as a way to discover the surprise and delight element of your engaging destination as you explore off the beaten path. This includes a walk around Gezira Land, then towards Tahrir Square, Eqyptian Museum, and end at Tahrir Square Fountain.Arrive on your own by taxi or metro to the meeting point to meet your guide in front of the Gate of Cairo Opera House Zamalek. Start your tour by walking through the amazing green area next to Cairo Tower called, Gezira Land for about 15 minutes. Then, continue walking across Qasr El Nile Bridge over the Nile towards Tahrir Square and stop on the Nile Corniche, a popular place to go on dates. There, you will also try traditional Egyptian snacks, grilled fresh corn, grilled sweet potato, salted lupine, and water with a cola drink. If possible, you will also try an Egyptian traditional bakery mixed with flavored salt called Doqqa.Once you reach Tahrir Square, marvel at its unique architecture, decorated with an original pharaonic Obelisk surrounded by original Sphinx statues and an amazing lighting system. Then, pass by the American University and Cairo downtown through Talaat Harb Street. Continue on to the famous Champollion Street that was named to immortalize the name of the French Egyptologist who deciphers the secrets of The Hieroglyphic. Continue walking towards the Egyptian Museum until Tahrir Square Fountain, where the tour ends. Once the tour ends, you can continue your evening as you wish or go back to your hotel.
