Overview
This tour will start with your hotel pick-up from Bentota. Continue to Balapitiya for a boat safari down the Madu river which is home to different species of plants and animals. This boat ride is a great chance to explore this complex wetland ecosystem with its rich ecological, biological and aesthetic diversity.Continue your trip with a visit to a turtle hatchery where you can see baby sea turtles as well as fully mature sea turtles. Lunch at a local restaurant will follow before you transfer to Meetiyagoda, famous for its moonstones mines. Here, you will learn more about the moonstones and the mining process. Towards the end of your tour, you will visit the Galle Dutch Fort, built in 1588 by the Portuguese. The fort has a colorful history and consists of a multi-ethnic and multi-religious population. It has been listed among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites because of its unique urban ensemble which illustrates the interaction of European architecture and South Asian traditions.At the end of your tour, you will be transferred back to Hotel.
