Overview
Pockmarked by history-steeped towns and protected wetlands, Huelva is one of the most scenic corners of Spain. And it's right next door to the Algarve. This small group tour takes you across the border to visit historic Niebla, El Rocio religious site and replicas of Columbus's caravel sailing ships.Niebla invites you to explore the history behind its ancient walls – see the 16th century hospital, the churches of St Martin and Our Lady of Granada, and visit the castle. Afterwards, you'll drop into the Bollulos winery for a tasting and some tapas.The excursion takes a more spiritual turn next with a visit to El Rocío – one of Spain's most important pilgrimage sites – where you can drop into a shop specialising in frilly flamenco dresses and enjoy some free time. Rounding off your trip is a visit Palos de la Frontera to see replicas of the three sailing ships Columbus used on his historic trip.
