Overview
This 4x4 tour takes you through the countryside to explore hidden corners of the Algarve. And best of all, it's exclusively for you and your party alone. You'll go off-road along country tracks, visit an ancient castle, swim in a natural spring, and drop in at a hillside hamlet to taste honey and medronho – the fiery local spirit.First, you'll visit Paderne Castle – an ancient Roman outpost turned Berber castle that commands views over the valley below. Then, you can slip into your swimming trunks for a dip in Fonte de Alte natural springs, or set off to explore the surrounding village.The impressive Pico Alto viewpoint is next on the agenda, before journeying through oak forests and fields full of almond, carob and olive trees to Queda do Vigario waterfall. After admiring the thundering falls, it's on to Quinto do Freixo country estate where local honey and medronho – also known as Portuguese fire water – is laid out for you to taste.
