Overview
One of Spain's most beautiful and unspoiled corners is right next door to the Algarve. Huelva boasts landscapes of protected wetlands pockmarked by history-steeped towns. You'll visit Niebla, El Rocío and replicas of Columbus's caravels.Niebla invites you to explore the history behind its ancient walls – see the 16th century hospital, the churches of St Martin and Our Lady of Granada, and visit the castle. Afterwards, you'll drop into the Bollulos winery for a tasting and some tapas.The excursion takes a more spiritual turn next with a visit to El Rocío – one of Spain's most important pilgrimage sites – where you can drop into a shop specialising in frilly flamenco dresses and enjoy some free time. Rounding off your trip is a visit Palos de la Frontera to see replicas of the three caravels Columbus used on his historic trip.
