A new theatrical work inspired by the music of Lucio Dalla, L’anno che verrà (The Year to Come) comes to Teatro Regio di Parma. This new production, created in collaboration with Fondazione Lucio Dalla and several leading Italian theatres and cultural institutions, brings together live music, theatre, video, and contemporary dance in an original stage story.

Rather than presenting a conventional biography of the celebrated Italian singer-songwriter, the production creates an independent narrative inspired by his music. Set in a grand seaside hotel on New Year’s Eve, the story follows a porter who becomes the silent observer and narrator of the guests’ lives. A young couple running away together, a lounge singer searching for a lost love, a disillusioned musician, and a businessman facing a personal crisis cross paths during one extraordinary night. Their stories gradually form a portrait of hopes, disappointments, memories, and the desire for a different future.

Lucio Dalla’s songs become the emotional thread connecting these individual stories, while Roberto Molinelli’s arrangements bring them into a new theatrical context. Manuel Renga directs the production, with video design by Fabio Massimo Iaquone, sets by Matteo Paoletti, choreography and costumes by Michele Merola, and lighting by Marco Cazzola. The Orchestra Città di Ferrara, the Accademia Corale Vittore Veneziani, and Michele Merola Contemporary Dance Company contribute to the performance, with Pierdavide Carone as soloist.

With its combination of Dalla’s unmistakable music, contemporary dance, visual storytelling, and live performance, L’anno che verrà offers a distinctive evening at Teatro Regio di Parma—an atmospheric journey through the hopes and uncertainties of people waiting for a new beginning.

The New Great Open Air Theatre has been inaugurated on May 15th 2008 in Torre del Lago Puccini.

The Parco della Musica of Giacomo Puccini and the New Great Open Air Theatre together, have been projected to be one of the most important centre for culture, and represent with no doubts, one of most remarkable project of last decades in Tuscany. They arise from a unique case consisting in using old areas and places one time dedicated to industry, in order to create places connected to music, performances and contemporary art, to safeguard and increase the value of such places where one of the most important composers of music history, usually found his inspiration.

The new theatre is located inside an area of 245.000 mq, delimited by the Massaciuccoli lake, the piazzale Belvedere (in front of Villa Puccini) and the small village of Torre del Lago.

The new theatre area covers a surface of 6.600 mq, where the arena capacity is 3.200 and the Auditorium's 495 spectators. It is made of cement, wood and crystal and provided with high quality, sophisticated technologies.
