This evocative programme spans centuries and continents: from the refined dances of Sylvius Leopold Weiss and John Dowland’s haunting Fantasia to Francisco Tárrega’s fiery Capricho Árabe and José Broca’s lyrical Fantasia, with romantic intimacy in Schubert’s Ständchen and sunlit rhythms in Torroba’s Castillos de España. Interludes of Scottish and Peruvian traditional melodies add unexpected colour, each piece unveiling new facets of the guitar’s expressive power.
