Programme
Overview
Under flickering candlelight, Chopin’s cello and piano masterpieces unfold in the Baroque splendour of St Mary le Strand. Award-winning cellist Kirsten Jenson and celebrated pianist Warren Mailley-Smith unite for an intimate evening of Romantic brilliance.Step into the hushed grandeur of a Baroque church, where cathedral arches and ornate columns are washed in warm candlelight. Award-winning cellist Kirsten Jenson and acclaimed pianist Warren Mailley-Smith present an evocative programme of Chopin’s chamber and solo works. The concert opens with the virtuosic Introduction and Polonaise Brillante in C major, flows into the deeply expressive Sonata for Cello in G minor, and culminates in the heroic Ballade No.1 in its original solo piano form. Their nuanced interplay and the venue’s historic architecture combine to create an atmosphere of passion, lyricism, and Romantic intensity. Guests are greeted with a complimentary Limoncello on arrival, providing the perfect prelude to an unforgettable musical journey.
