The evening unfolds with Dieterich Buxtehude’s Membra Jesu Nostri, a cycle of seven elegantly scored cantatas, each movement tenderly meditating on a different facet of the crucified body—from the foot’s gentle repose to the crown’s silent sorrow. After a brief interlude, the choir returns to unveil Arvo Pärt’s minimalist setting of Psalm 51, where his signature tintinnabuli technique strips sound to its emotional core, delivering a raw and deeply human plea for mercy.
