Programme

Overview

Experience the UK premiere of Poul Ruders’ new string trio, performed by the celebrated Norwegian ensemble Ssens. This special evening also features György Kurtág’s ‘Signs, Games And Messages’ and timeless trio masterpieces by Haydn and Beethoven.Prepare to be immersed in the nuanced interplay of Sølve Sigerland’s violin, Henninge Landaas’s viola and Ellen Margrete Flesjø’s cello as Ssens delivers the UK premiere of Poul Ruders’ latest string trio. Following its Bergen debut, Ruders’ work unfolds in shifting colours and dynamic textures that balance Nordic clarity with bold modern harmonies. The programme continues with György Kurtág’s aphoristic ‘Signs, Games And Messages’, a sequence of condensed movements shimmering with expressive intensity, before concluding with the enduring elegance of Haydn and Beethoven. Lasting approximately two hours with a 20-minute interval, the concert offers a richly balanced journey between contemporary innovation and classical tradition.
