Programme

Overview

Join the Rosseti Ensemble for an enchanting evening of piano quartets: Mozart’s stirring G minor, John Lenehan’s elegant arrangement of Ravel’s Ma mère l’Oye, and Chausson’s lush fin de siècle quartet. Immerse yourself in a captivating blend of classical mastery and French-inspired charm.Over approximately two hours, with a 20-minute interval, the Rosseti Ensemble—pianist John Lenehan joined by violinist Sarah Tricky, violist Sarah Jane Bradley and cellist Ursula Smith—presents a thoughtfully curated programme of piano quartets. The concert opens with Mozart’s beloved G minor Piano Quartet, its tempestuous opening motif and graceful lyricism rendered with crystalline clarity. After the interval, Lenehan unveils his own arrangement of Ravel’s Ma mère l’Oye, transforming childhood fairy tales into shimmering chamber textures and colours. The evening concludes with Chausson’s Piano Quartet in A major, a fin de siècle masterpiece whose sumptuous harmonies and sensuous colours evoke the refined salons of 1890s France. Throughout the performance, the ensemble’s seamless interplay and expressive depth invite listeners on a spellbinding journey through centuries of classical elegance and French flair.
