Programme
Overview
Embark on a journey through eighteenth-century Vienna with the Rautio Trio—Haydn’s youthful grace, Marianne von Martines’s hidden genius and Beethoven’s bold ascent resonate anew on a restored period fortepiano.Step into an evening of refined chamber music as the Rautio Trio brings the salons of eighteenth-century Vienna to vibrant life. Traverse Haydn’s formative years as a young lodger in grand Viennese apartments, then uncover the clandestine artistry of aristocrat-composer Marianne von Martines, whose elegant manuscripts belied the era’s societal constraints. Finally, witness Beethoven’s audacious rise as he forged alliances with Vienna’s elite patrons. Seamlessly melding violin, cello and a meticulously restored period fortepiano, the trio illuminates each work with historical clarity and emotional depth, inviting audiences to rediscover the enduring power of artistic patronage.
