The concert opens with the theatrical brilliance of Lully’s overtures and court dances before venturing into the intimate keyboard suites and sacred motets that blossomed in Kassel and Schwerin around 1700. Rarely heard manuscripts from these German court libraries illuminate a repertoire of refined melodies, intricate ornamentation, and profound devotional expression. Performed in the round on period instruments—harpsichord, baroque violin, cello, and baroque flute—the ensemble invites listeners into an immersive sound world where every bow stroke and ornament resonates with historical authenticity.
