This immersive, in-the-round concert places you at the heart of every chilling melody. Performances in German at 3pm and in English at 6pm.Schubert’s Winterreise unfolds as a heartbroken wayfarer, betrayed by love, traverses a merciless winter expanse, each song a pulse of raw despair and fragile beauty. In this in-the-round concert, baritone Roderick Williams inhabits the wanderer’s role, his rich voice weaving through Schubert’s haunting melodies while the pianist at his side draws out every shiver of emotion. Surrounded on all sides by the audience, the performers evoke lonely paths and icy gusts with stark intimacy, letting the chilling clarity of the music guide you through heartbreak’s bitter edge. The 3pm performance will be sung in German, and the 6pm performance in English.
