The world-renowned Madrid Flamenco Dance Company is the "top" flamenco dance company known to all Spanish people. It often accompanies the Spanish royal family on visits abroad and performs for heads of state and dignitaries of various countries. It is also a cultural business card representing the national customs of Spain. The dance company is well-known in the world dance scene for its noble, unrestrained, luxurious characteristics and countless classic repertoires. The Spanish "ABC" newspaper once called the company "one of the five miracles in the dance world." The dance drama "Carmen" is the signature work of this dance company. It is directed, artistically directed, and choreographed by the famous dance drama director Reciano Rez. So far, it has become one of the "Carmen" repertoires with the most performances in the world.

The original novel "Carmen" involves many characters and the plot is ups and downs. This play has four acts and ten scenes, which is the most faithful to the original. It uses modern stage design and lighting to ignite the flamenco stage, and truly expresses a passionate story with dance. All the characters in the novel are on stage, and the plot is fully presented, reliving the story of Carmen and Jose from their passionate love to jealous hatred, from their free and unrestrained life to their painful death. The hot and provocative "seducing scenes", the "violent scenes" of savage fights with female workers, the extremely lingering "passionate scenes", the heroic and majestic "bullfighting dance", the "cheat scenes" of transferring affection to the joy of love, the "farewell scenes" with blood on hands... Every scene is amazing, and in the face of the ultimate torture of love, death and freedom, there is no need to dodge, please face the answer in the deepest part of your soul.

The dance troupe's cast is world-class. The king Francisco Guero Gonzalez is a Grand Slam champion and a well-deserved "genius dancer"; the queen Naalia María is an enchanting "dance god"; and Maria Victoria is the "magic godmother" who can make the audience cry or laugh at will. During the performance, they can tap the floor with their feet hundreds of times per minute, and the dense and powerful rhythm seems to ignite the entire stage. Coupled with the experienced and battle-hardened royal team, they will surely present us with an extremely hearty and soul-stirring dance feast.

History
Premiere of this production: 21 February 1949, Shaftesbury Theatre, London

Carmen is a ballet created by Roland Petit and his company 'Les Ballets de Paris' at the Prince's Theatre in London on 21 February 1949, which has entered the repertory of ballet companies in France and around the world. This version is in five scenes and represents a striking admixture of classical ballet, Spanish-style movement, mime, and freshly invented dramatic dance action. It opened "scandalously and brilliantly, with the fabulously sexy Zizi Jeanmaire in the title role" in London and has been regularly performed ever since.

Synopsis

The first scene is set in a street in Seville, where the dancing of a crowd is interrupted by a girl being chased by Carmen. Their fight is only stopped by the arrival of Don José, who assists Carmen's defeated opponent. As he is about to arrest Carmen he is struck by her allure and arranges an assignation for later. That evening in the tavern Don José enters and dances a zapateado to the music of the habanera. Carmen next appears and dances, ending at Don José's feet; he lifts her up and they go up to the bedroom. The customers dance and when Carmen and Don José return they join in before José wraps Carmen in his cape and they go off.

The third scene is in Carmen's bedroom. After a passionate duet, three of Carmen's friends come in and invite her to go outside. At night in the street, Carmen, Don José and the friends prepare to rob a passer-by. Using a dagger Carmen has given him, Don José stabs a man, and after the women have taken his purse, they all flee.

The final scene is set outside the bull-ring where girls await the arrival of their hero, the toreador. He enters and greets them but is fascinated by the indifference shown by Carmen. José enters and notices their looks. The toreador moves into the arena whereupon Don José threatens Carmen, and in a fight to the death he overcomes her. As she dies, hats are tossed from the bull-ring to land at his feet.

Shanghai Oriental Art Center - Shanghai
Location   425 Dingxiang Lu, near Century Blvd

The Shanghai Oriental Art Center is one of the leading performance and cultural facilities in Shanghai. The five interconnected hemispherical halls or "petals" are shaped to resemble a butterfly orchid from above. They comprise the Entrance Hall, the Concert Hall, the Opera Hall, the Performance Hall, and the Exhibition Hall. The high-tech ceiling changes color during the night to reflect the nature of the performances inside. Located off Century Avenue in Pudong, the SHOAC was opened with a New Year's Eve concert in 2004 and officially opened on July 1, 2005.

Various cultural and musical performances are held in the center, beginning from the 2005 Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra Shanghai Concert. It's a regular venue for concert performances and its popular "Chinese Traditional Opera Series" hosts performances by the China National Opera, the Shanghai Jingju Theatre Company and Shanghai Kunqu Company, and the Shanghai Yueju Opera Troupe. The OAC's Saturday Brunch Concerts claim audiences of over 100 000 every year.

The building was designed by French architect Paul Andreu and the Huadong Architectural Design & Research Institute. The façades are mainly laminated glass incorporating perforated metal sheets. The dark granite floors and multi-layered glass screen walls aim to create a softly diffused forest floor effect. The separate "petals" of the construction are hung with large distinctly colored pebbles to differentiate them. The backstage facilities include an Orchestra Rehearsal Hall, Choir Rehearsal Hall, Dance Rehearsal Hall, and Integrated Rehearsal Hall.
