Experience the drama of Beethoven’s Leonore Overture as Joana Carneiro returns to lead the RCM Philharmonic in a commanding performance. RCM Concerto Competition winner Markus Sadler then brings Bartók’s Third Piano Concerto to life in a vibrant fusion of folk rhythms and modern harmony.Conductor Joana Carneiro returns to the RCM podium to guide the Philharmonic through Beethoven’s Leonore Overture, capturing Fidelio’s themes of devotion and daring with sweeping strings and triumphant brass. The overture charts Leonore’s brave transformation into Fidelio to rescue her husband, moving from tense hushed passages to radiant, soaring climaxes. In the second half, RCM Concerto Competition laureate Markus Sadler takes centre stage in Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 3, weaving folk-inspired motifs into intricate textures and bold, modern harmonies. Together, these works promise an evening of profound emotional resonance and dazzling virtuosity, blending classical drama with 20th-century innovation.
