OperaBrass Tickets

OperaBrass is one of the chamber music ensembles of the Bavarian State Orchestra.

Although the formation is also in the classical brass Quintet occupation, but rather enters the stage with four trumpets and trombones, a horn, tuba and from case to case also drums.
In 1996, the eleven musicians debuted with two concerts in the Cuvilliés Theater of the Munich Residence with a program composed of works of various stylistic epochs. Since all members of the ensemble are not only at home in classical music, but have also accumulated diverse experiences from jazz to hit music, this type of music also plays a major role in the repertoire of the formation. For example, arrangements for opera highlights, jazz standards and big-band evergreens were commissioned especially for OperaBrass. In addition, the trumpeters Andreas Öttl and Frank Bloedhorn have also contributed their own arrangements to the repertoire. The two musicians are particularly thrilled that they can use all their instruments in the ensemble - from the piccolo trumpet to the flugelhorn.
Off the beaten track, they moved on a tour with the cabaret artist Bruno Jonas and the program Full Tube - Hot Air: a satirical metal sheet, so to speak, whose content dealt with no less than 400 years of love and death in the opera.
An important role in the artistic development of the ensemble played a musical collaboration with two former general music directors of the Bavarian State Opera, Zubin Mehta and Kent Nagano, and other renowned conductors such as the baroque specialist Ivor Bolton.
In 2006, OperaBrass created a concert together with the world famous King's Singers at the Prinzregententheater. Both ensembles stretched the musical arc over the centuries under the title In Perfect Harmony. With Wagner & Friends, the musicians of OperaBrass 2012 ventured directly from the orchestra pit to the stage of the National Theater with a real crossover program. Each summer, OperaBrass also participates in the Unicredit Festival Night at the beginning of the Munich Opera Festival.
Apart from that, one can experience the ensemble at the chamber concerts of the Bavarian State Opera and on tours. In the recent past, after the European Tour 2016 with the Bavarian State Orchestra and an Asian guest performance in 2017 in September 2018, it was off to Mallorca, where the Munich brass band visited the Cathedral of Palma for the second time.
