About

Born in Padova (Italy) in 1969, he plays ethnic percussion and drums since the early 1980s. His musical skills have developed in more than twenty years of professional activities, collaborations, concerts, tours, recordings and experiences in the field of ethnic music, with Latin, Brazilian, Gipsy, African and American artists and groups, throughout Italy and abroad (Europe, Brazil, Japan). He has performed, among others, with Claudio Roditi, Dave Samuels, Andy J. Forest, Tony Scott, John Riley, Bruce Gaitsch, Igudesman & Joo, Tony Esposito, O.I.&B. Zucchero Tribute Band, and many other acknowledged jazz, pop and latin artists on the Italian and international scene.

Acknowledged expert and specialist in Afrocuban and Afrobrazilian drums and percussion, he has more recently specialized in African percussion. He is founder and director of the brazilian percussion groups “Batuque Branko” and “Bloco Unidos Maravilha”, and he plays in the European samba group “Bloco X”. 

In 2011 and 2012 he played at the Sambadrome in Rio de Janeiro for the carnival parade with the School of Samba Imperatriz Leopoldinense. 

Some of his actual projects are: latin salsa orchestra “Mezcla Latina”, Brazilian jazz quartet Nina & VES, jazz big band “Tommaso Cappellato Orchestra”, ethnic ensemble "Café Touba", lounge music group “Aaron Tesser & The New Jazz Affair”, Brazilian percussion orchestra “Batuque Branko”, and many others.

He has also performed with many classical and pop-classical orchestras such as Rondò Veneziano, Orchestra I Virtuosi Italiani, Orchestra Italiana Napoletana, Orchestra Ritmico Sinfonica Italiana, FVG Mitteleuropa Orchestra, Orchestra Teatro Comunale di Bologna, and more. In his tour experiences he played in important locations such as Theater Berliner Philharmonie, Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, and theatres in Osaka, Sao Paulo, Zurich, Leipzig, Munich, Nagoya, Rio de Janeiro, Brescia, Verona, Padova and more..

In addition to his live career, he regularly performs educational activities as a percussion and drumset teacher, giving lessons and clinics for professionals, adults and children in many music schools.
