Embark on a boundary-pushing evening with pianist-composer Zubin Kanga as he premieres Nicole Lizée’s ‘Sataniq Paniq // Satanipanicon’. Expect glitching film vignettes, interactive piano theatrics and futuristic soundscapes, alongside bold new works by Rodgman, Fujikura and Saunier.Join Zubin Kanga for a spellbinding journey into the frontier of new music technologies. The concert opens with the world premiere of Nicole Lizée’s Sataniq Paniq // Satanipanicon, a raucous fusion of glitching 1980s documentary vignettes and virtuosic piano studies that resurrects the era’s moral panic around horror films, heavy metal and role-playing games. Lizée’s films bleed into the stage, as Kanga triggers loops, custom props and multimedia elements in real time, dissolving the barrier between audience and performer. Next, Jasmin Kent Rodgman’s ORGANS probes the fragility of empathy in a digital age, weaving piano and synthesiser timbres with live-controlled visuals in an arresting dialogue. Dai Fujikura’s Nagisa (Water’s Edge) follows as a luminous duet of piano, synthesiser and electro-pop inflections that cascades like rippling waves. Finally, Mathis Saunier’s NOXIA_VOLIUM transports listeners to a hyper-real sci-fi realm of artificial voices, flashing lights and kaleidoscopic keyboard textures. Commissioned for Kanga’s Cyborg Soloists series, this programme offers an immersive voyage through compelling new sonic worlds.
