This concert brings together five contemporary compositions inspired by landscape, movement and cultural memory: Gabriella Smith’s Keep Going rushes forward with restless energy and vivid colour; John Luther Adams’s Lines Made By Walking transforms the act of traversing terrain into a spacious sonic voyage; Alvin Lucier’s Navigations for Strings offers an intensely focused study of hidden harmonies and resonances; Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen’s Last Ground balances austerity with playful tension through elemental motifs; and Raven Chacon’s Journey of the Horizontal People evokes vast spaces, history and Indigenous relationships to land. Together, these works forge a profound connection between sound and environment, inviting you to rediscover the landscapes you inhabit, inherit and call home.
