Ken Schumann was born near Cologne into a musician's family. As a four-year-old he started playing the violin and gave his debut with orchestra at the age of ten. He received his violin education from Zakhar Bron, Thomas Brandis and Heime Müller.
He received further important impulses from Pinchas Zukerman, Gerhard Schulz and Reinhard Goebel.
As a multiple 1st prize winner of international competitions, he has made a name for himself as a violinist.
Ken was a member of the Chamber Music Course of the Kronberg Academy and the International Violin Masters Keshet Eilon in Israel.
His interest in baroque music he deepened in 2001 at a workshop for early music with Fanzjosef Maier.
He was awarded both the Sparkassen-Förderpreis of the Rheinische Sparkassen- und Giroverband and the City of Pulheim with the "Kulturpreis".
Ken was a scholarship holder of "Werner Richard-Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation ", the" Jürgen-Ponto Foundation "and the" Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation ". He is a violinist in the renowned "Schumann Quartet" with which he gives successful concerts at the major concert podiums and festivals in the world. In addition to his quartet Ken is active as a violinist and violist in the Wupper trio.
He also plays as a concertmaster in the Cologne Chamber Orchestra and in Hamburg Camerata.
