Premiered by the trailblazing vocal ensemble EXAUDI alongside a super-group string trio—violinist Ilya Gringolts, cellist Nicolas Altstaedt, and violist Lawrence Power—Miller’s score flows through ethereal vocal clusters and radiant string textures, creating moments of luminous stillness and waves of fervent intensity. In the first half, the same trio weaves an intricate tapestry of musical history that culminates in Beethoven’s String Trio Op. 9 No. 3, whose turbulent ardor and dramatic contrasts provide a thrilling counterpart to the evening’s premiere.
