Programme
Overview
Embark on a ritual of sound as solo violin, chamber ensemble and choir unite in Bach’s towering Chaconne, the luminous stillness of Pärt’s Antiphons, and the visceral premiere of David Fennessy’s Blood. An evening of breath-held moments and raw, elemental power.Immerse yourself in a transcendent evening where centuries of music converge in ritual and reflection. Bach’s Chaconne opens the programme, its monumental solo violin lines illuminated by chorales that reveal hidden emotional architecture beneath each note. Arvo Pärt’s Greater Antiphons follows, unfolding in shimmering stillness and evoking a sense of timeless devotion. The climax arrives with the premiere of David Fennessy’s Blood, in which a solo violin weaves through haunting choral textures, consonants dissolve and vowels stretch into an elemental stream of sound. Ancient chant and resonant strings collide to forge a startling new sonic landscape pulsing with visceral energy.
