Situated in Upper Austria this cozy town is definitely worth a visit!With a history dating back to the time when the Celtic time, the settlement of Tergolape was originally founded near today's city center of Schwanenstadt. During the Roman period, as it became a popular thoroughfare connecting Salzburg and Wels, a post office was built followed by the parish church 'Sancti Michaelis Archangeli in Suans'.Stop in the Pausinger villa, housing the local history museum to learn more about Schwanenstadt. Excavations of the villa's garden unearthed a Bavarian burial site along with Roman artifacts which led to the opening of the museum in 2007. Wander through the city center to the town square (Stadplatz) and admire the baroque and renaissance style facades. Step inside the city tower at the western end of the square; where the gallery with changing exhibitions is also located. Finally, enter the Schwanenstadt Parish Church built in the neo-Gothic style between 1900 and 1902. It's a city landmark with a distinctly pointed helmet tower rising to a height of 78 meters.
