Central Java
Central Java, or locally Jawa Tengah, is a region in the middle of the island of Java. Many of the main tourism sight can be found in the capital of the area, Semarang. Two examples are the Puri Maerokoco and the Indonesian Record Museum.
The temple sight Borobudur is one of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites of Indonesia. The monasteries Candi Mendut and Candi Pawon are located close to the Borobudur temple complex. The biggest complex of Hindu temples, Candi Prambanan, is also a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. Besides temples there are also several natural sights worth a visit. The Sewu waterfall is a well known sight regularly visited by tourist from Indonesia and abroad.
