Celia Craig Tickets

Elected President of the Australasian Double Reed Society 2007-2013, Celia was a Featured Artist at the 2009 and 2015 International Double Reed Society Conferences and has been an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music since 1997.

Familiar with stages and backstages in Tokyo, Buenos Aires, Amsterdam, Boston, Glasgow, Sydney, Frankfurt, Birmingham, Vilnius, New York, Sao Paulo, London and St Petersburg, Celia Craig’s orchestral career has taken her touring to five continents, working closely with many of the world’s top musicians: Bernstein, Haitink, Gergiev, Ashkenazy, Jaarvi, Boulez, Berio, Carter, Adams, Davis, Temirkanov, Zuckerman and more. Celia’s many TV, film, CD and broadcast credits, many recorded at Abbey Road Studios, include Daybreakers, Australia, South Solitary, Legends of the Guardians, Anne Boleyn and Dr Who. Celia has also performed for Her Majesty the Queen (her Eightieth Birthday concert at the Royal Albert Hall) Princess Diana, Prince Charles, Vladimir Putin, and John Howard.

Celia was a Guest Artist of the 2016 Coriole Festival performing with TinAlley String Quartet and Konstantin Shamray. 2017 invitations include oboe masterclasses at the Guildhall School, Royal Academy, Royal College, Trinity, Purcell School, and the Royal Northern Colleges of Music, a celebrity recital at Birmingham Conservatoire and the world premiere of a new Oboe Sonata by Stuart Greenbaum, Professor at The University of Melbourne as well as a CD recording with Omega Ensemble. Celia’s debut chamber album, with her ensemble Artaria, will also be released in 2017.

Celia has been invited to adjudicate by BBC TV Young Musician of the Year, ABC Young Performer Awards and for the 2015 Gillet/Fox International Oboe Competition, Tokyo.

Celia’s solo with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, New Zealand, in the Southern Hemisphere Premiere of Messiaen’s last work ‘Concert a Quatre’ in 2010, was described by the local press as ‘the concert of the decade.’ Appointed Principal Oboe of the Adelaide Symphony the following year, Celia has performed ‘Gabriel’s Oboe’ conducted by the composer Ennio Morricone in the Adelaide Festival as well as oboe concerti by Strauss, Mozart, Albinoni and Haydn. In 2018 she will give the World Premiere of Judith Weir’s new Oboe Concerto with the Adelaide Symphony, written for and dedicated to Celia.

Educated at The Purcell School, as a Scholarship student of Nicholas Daniel, Celia graduated from The University of York and The Royal Academy of Music with two Exhibition awards, Harold Craxton Chamber Music Prize and two Countess of Munster Musical Trust Awards, studying with George Caird and Christine Pendrill. Winner of Music for Youth National Oboe Prize, she represented Britain at the European Music for Youth competition in Zurich, also winning a position in European Community Youth Orchestra and Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan.
