Priority booking opens 24 April; tickets on sale 28 April.Journey to the heart of 19th-century Hungary in an evening alive with rustic fire and heartfelt longing. Associate Conductor Emilia Hoving leads the orchestra through Liszt’s sweeping piano works, inspired by the cascading Danube and wild, open fields of his homeland, with pianist János Balázs pouring his romantic spirit into every phrase. Next, Kodály’s suite unfolds like a grand musical fairytale, weaving plaintive folk melodies with spirited dances drawn from village traditions. Finally, Bartók’s chain of Danube dances leaps across the riverbank with bright energy and infectious rhythm, celebrating Budapest’s foundation in sound. Throughout the night, the orchestra’s warm ensemble tone and the soloist’s impassioned performance conjure a world of untamed beauty and lyrical longing.
