Overview

Lithuanian soprano Asmik Grigorian is “one of the greatest dramatic talents in opera” (The New York Times). Her “versatility is astonishing” (The Times) and her “wild voice [is] rich and dark” (Le Monde). She is regularly engaged at the world's leading opera houses and has recently appeared at the Vienna State Opera, the Teatro Real Madrid, the Salzburg Festival and the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. She was a founding member of the Vilnius City Opera, was twice awarded the Golden Stage Cross (the highest award for singers in Lithuania), was named Best Leading Actress at the Austrian Music Theater Prize in 2019 and was named Opera Singer of the Year 2022 by the Ópera XXI Association appointed.

International world-class voices as guests at the Musiktheater am Volksgarten: In 2022, the Landestheater Linz launched the Great Voices concert series with top-class vocal soloists such as Joyce DiDonato, Thomas Quasthoff, Elīna Garanča, Regula Mühlemann and Juan Diego Flórez. Due to the enthusiastic response and the widely expressed desire for a continuation, the gala series now has a permanent place on the program of the Landestheater Linz.

The Brucknerhaus is a festival and congress centre in Linz, Austria named after the Austrian composer Anton Bruckner. The building was designed by Finnish architects Heikki and Kaija Siren. Its construction took place from 1969 to 1973. It opened on 23 March 1974.

It holds about 200 performances per year, with about 180,000 of total audience. It is home to the International Brucknerfest Linz and the Linzer Klangwolke, two annual musical events.

Brucknerhaus has three main halls:

  • Large or Brucknersaal (named after Anton Bruckner): 1,420 seats, standing room for 150
  • Middle or Stiftersaal (named after Adalbert Stifter): 352 seats, standing room for 40
  • Small or Keplersaal (named after Johannes Kepler): 100–150 seats
