Barbara Burgdorf studied with Ulf Hoelscher, Rainer Kussmaul and as a scholarship holder of the DAAD with Dorothy DeLay at the Juilliard School in New York.
Her passion for chamber music deepened her in studies with major string quartets such as the Melos Quartet, the Juilliard Quartet, the Cleveland Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. As a soloist and baroque violinist she has been awarded numerous prizes, including the international violin competition Premio Rodolfo Lipizer. Several times she received the Festival Prize of the Munich Opera Festival. Since 1992 she is concertmaster of the Bavarian State Orchestra and first violinist in the Schumann Quartet Munich.
