Short day family grower tour and lunch from Epernay

Overview

Enjoy a sparkling experience, discover the scenic vineyards and learn about Champagne making in this short day tour which leaves from the heart of the Champagne region, Epernay.Upon meeting your friendly guide at 11.15am, you will start your tour with a drive through Champagne Avenue where some of the most prestigious estates are based. You will have a moment to enjoy the vineyards and their breathtaking views, and you will learn about the particularities of this area's “terroir”.From there you will head to the village of Hautvillers, the birthplace of Champagne, for a bit of exploration. Here you will be able to visit the church where the famous monk Dom Pérignon is buried.You will then be welcomed at a typical Champagne house in Mareuil-sur-Ay, where you will train your nose to identify the different aromas and flavors that can be found in Champagne through an olfactory workshop. You will then have to identify blindly 3 different Champagnes from boutique wineries, putting into practice what you just learned, all while eating some local snacks.Lunch will be a complete immersion into the french lifestyle and will consist of traditional homemade regional specialties paired with a variety of Champagnes. More Champagne tasting awaits in the afternoon as you get to visit an authentic and charming family-run estate, before your guide drops you off back to Epernay at around 5.15pm.
