Overview
Meet your guide after getting picked up from the hotel at 9.30 hrs. Your first destination is the iconic Golden Temple, and on the way, you will see the colorful streets of Punjab and experience its rich martial character. Also called the Harmandir Sahib, the Golden Temple is perhaps Amritsar’s most famous landmark. The Golden Temple is also revered as the most sacred place for Sikhs in the world, and as you explore it, your guide will give you lots of historical insights about the temple and the history of Sikhism. A major attraction of the Golden Temple is its Langar (dining hall). People from all faiths are welcomed here for free meals.After visiting the Golden Temple, visit a local restaurant and treat yourself to a rich and deeply gratifying heavy Punjabi meal. Then you will go to Wagah Border, which is one of the points of the Indo-Pak border, and every evening, the ‘lowering of the flags’ or the ‘Beating Retreat’ ceremony attracts many onlookers. The iron gates are opened and border guards of both the countries lower their respective flags amidst much pomp and show. The atmosphere gets electrified as they try to outdo each other in the drill. Finally, you will be dropped back to your hotel.
