Overview
Discover the historical treasures of Phnom Penh on this guided tour by cyclo and tuk-tuk!The tour starts with a visit to the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda. The treasures found inside include the Pagoda 5,000-silver-tiles floor, a solid gold Buddha, a small 17th-century emerald, and a baccarat crystal Buddha. From there, you'll walk to the National Museum designed by Georges Grolier in Khmer style in 1917. The museum contains a collection of Khmer art - notably sculptures - throughout the ages. At lunch, you'll stop at a local restaurant before heading by tuk-tuk to the notorious Tuol Sleng Museum. Pol Pot’s security forces used this former school as a prison and became the largest center for detention and torture during the rule of the Khmer Rouge. If time permits, you'll end your afternoon with a visit to Wat Phnom temple, Phnom Penh’s namesake. Founded in 1373, the pagoda was built to house Buddhist relics washed ashore by the river.
