Overview
The tour begins with the archaeological site of Knossos. Discovered by Arthur Evans and David George Hogard, Knossos is the largest Bronze age archaeological site on Crete. Then head towards the highest peak of Giouhtas, following the dirt road through a beautiful pine forest, the small church of Christ the Lord is located there, built in 1443 and you will be rewarded with the pleasant view of the valley of Archanes, which is a vast vineyard, Psiloritis, Dikti and Heraklion. Get an opportunity to observe the imposing vultures before having a special wine tasting at the Fabrika Wine Experience and tracing the traditional winemaking process step by step. After that, enjoy the excellent Cretan cuisine at a local tavern. The last stop is the Heraklion archaeological meuseum, one of the largest and most important museums in Europe.
