After reunification, it began to thrive again and is now one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing in the world.

Immerse yourself in today's lifestyle district around Hackesche Höfe and admire beautifully restored courtyards where charming boutiques, hip cafés, and trendy galleries await guests. At the site of Berlin's first synagogue, find out more about the origins of the Jewish community. Visit the former workshop for the blind of Otto Weidt, who was honored as one of the Righteous Among the Nations for saving the lives of quite a few Jewish Berliners during the Nazi era.Stroll along the Große Hamburger Straße which was of central importance for the Jews as among other things you'll see the oldest Jewish cemetery in Berlin, the Jewish high school, and the former Jewish nursing home.
