Timothy Banchet (2 March 1987) started playing the piano at the age of 4.
Thanks to his father's huge record collection, he came into contact with Jazz, Soul and Gospel early on. He tried to sort out the music he heard on the piano.
In addition to playing classical music and jazz, thanks to school and friends from the neighborhood, he also came into contact with hip hop, R&B and Surinamese music. With musician friends he started playing high school in kaseko, but also reggae bands keyboards. A number of gospel and R&B formations also followed.
Always impressed by jazz, he decided at the age of 17 that he wanted to focus on jazz piano. He then went to the conservatory at the age of 19 and studied with pianist Bert van den Brink. He graduated summa cum laude in 2012.
In addition to playing freelance with different formations in different styles, he has his own group. This group (with Danny William and Jamie Peet) tries to combine all the musical sounds they have heard so far, in particular jazz and modern urban music, into a whole.
Timothy has played with Phillip Harper, Ignacio Berroa, Reinier Baas, Benjamin Herman, Jesse van Ruller, Karen Bernod, Maarten Hogenhuis, Jenny Lane, Shirma Rouse, Leona Philippo, Pearl Jozefzoon, Sarah Jane Wijdenbosch and Gery Mendes.
