Thorsten Scharnke received his vocal training at the Hamburger Musikhochschule.
He was a member of the ensemble at the Stadttheater Würzburg, the Städtischen Bühnen Münster and the Staatstheater Oldenburg. Guest contracts led him u. a. to the Staatstheater Kassel, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Semperoper Dresden, the Staatsoper Hamburg, the Staatstheater Darmstadt, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the Staatsoper Hannover and the Nationaltheater Mannheim. His repertoire includes roles such as Loge (Das Rheingold), Siegmund (The Valkyrie), Max (Der Freischütz), Erik (Der fliegende Holländer), Florestan (Fidelio) and the title roles in Tannhäuser and Parsifal.
