Robert Luts studied at the Lemmens Institute at Louvain and the Royal Music Conservatory in Brussels , where he not only qualified as a music pedagogue, he also won a lot of prizes incl. singing, chambermusic, harmony and choral conductor with, as a special award, the diploma singing, with distinction( 1992). After that he specialised in the opera class of the Conservatory at Maastricht (1994). He received his degree of Master of Arts in 2013 in music, main subject voice.
 

His repertoire contains among others the role of “Tamino” (Die Zauberflöte), “Fenton” (Die Lustige Weiber), “Silango” (Le Cinesi (Glück)), “Blaise” (L’ arbre enchanté (Glück)), “Novice” (Billy Budd), “Acis and Galathea” G.F. Händel, “Harry” (La Fanciulla del West).

Also modern works like “Achilleus” from Wim Hendrickx. He was a guest a.o. in the Muntschouwburg Brussels, Opera Zuid Maastricht, Vlaamse Opera together with Chamber Opera “Transparant” Antwerp and worked with many ensembles and directors like Holland Boys Choir, L’ensemble “Les musiciens” Luxembourg conducted by Pierre Cao, Northern Simfonia conducted by Christian Zaccharias, VRO conducted by Michel Tilkin, P. Schollaert, F. Heyerick, Andreas Steuer, Roy Goodman and The Concertgebouw chamber Orchestra, ...

He was a guest at the Festival van Vlaanderen , in San Sebastian, Annecy, Genève , Amsterdam, Essen (D), Düsseldorf, Paris, Nantes, Lüneburg , Antwerp, Brussels, Den Haag, ‘s Hertogenbosch, Münster (D), London, Avila (Sp), Newcastle und Carlisle, Cannes (F).
To his discography belong recordings of the Matthäuspassion of J.S. Bach in Amsterdam, works of Beethoven, Britten, Mendelssohn, Mozart, C. Orff, V. Thomson (operafragments from “The mother of us all”), recordings for Klara, CD with songs of L. Hulshagen (1999), Vlaamse liederen of S. en V. Nees, J. Duyck and P. Steegmans.

In 2005 he finished a CD –DVD recording of the Matthäuspassion (evangelist) of Bach together with The Netherlands Bach Collegium, Holland Boys Choir and the BachChoir.

In september 2013 a whole new CD of the St Matthew passion (evangelist) by J.S. Bach with the Bach Choir of the Netherlands.

For the song he is working together with the pianist Helene Luyten and Willy Appermont.

Besides all these activities he is also a member of the vocal ensemble “Vocamabile” which follows to the tradition of the romantic singingquartet and modern compositions and Director artistic of the Ensemble Van Eyck of Maaseik (B).

He teaches at the Music Conservatory at Hasselt.
