About

Quatuor Tchalik is a French string quartet founded in 2013 by siblings Louise, Sarah, Gabriel and Marc Tchalik.

The siblings Tchalik play together since their early childhood. Founded in 2013, the string quartet has performed in numerous concert halls and music festivals in France, Spain, Russia, Norway, Italy, the Czech Republic and Austria, among others. Occasionally added at concerts another brother, the pianist Dania Tchalik, the string quartet.

The quartet studied at various music academies, including the McGill International String Quartet Academy in Montreal, the European Chamber Music Academy, the Accademia Musicale Chigiana, the Académie Musicale de Villecroze and the Center européen de musique de chambre Paris. Since 2016, the Tchalik Quartet is taught in the master class by Günter Pichler, the founder of the Alban Berg Quartet at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofia in Madrid. The quartet received valuable support from musicians such as Yovan Markovich, Vladimir Bukač, Johannes Meissl, Jan Talich and Macha Yanouchevsky. In 2014, the quartet received a scholarship to participate in the Franco-Czech Academy in Telč and at the International Summer Academy (ISA) in Vienna.

In 2016, the string quartet won the Chamber Music Competition of the International Summer Academy of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. The following year, they were awarded the Fonadazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena Prize. In February 2018, the Quatour Tchalik won first prize at the 13th International Mozart Competition in Salzburg. For the best interpretation of a string quartet by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the quartet was also honored with the special prize of the Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg.

The siblings Tchalik work with the French violin maker Philippe Mitéran from Bourg-la-Reine and the bow maker Konstantin Cheptitski together. Since 2016, the string quartet has been financially supported by the Safran Foundation.
