About
PKF-Prague Philharmonia is a Czech Chamber of music composed of young graduates of music schools. It was founded in 1994 on the initiative of conductor Jiří Bělohlávek under the original name Prague chamber Philharmonic.
History
In 1996, she applied for registration in the Register of companies of general interest. The repertoire of the ensemble is mainly the music of Viennese classicism, compositions by Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven. The repertoire is further composed with compositions of the era of romanticism and is completed by a special series of concerts of modern and contemporary music.
Most of the permanent members of the orchestra operate here from the very beginning. Thanks to our own project Orchestral academy of the PKF – Prague Philharmonia is possible to perform works of a larger cast, without it being necessary to complement the orchestra from the ranks of freelance musicians.
The Philharmonic is dedicated not only to young talented musicians, but also to children for whom it began to hold special concerts under the collective name PKF to children. He also runs the children's Club notice.
The Philharmonic performs with financial support from the Ministry of culture of the Czech Republic and the capital of Prague.
