A refined musician of remarkable versatility, Pieter-Jelle de Boer is rapidly establishing himself as one of the most talented conductors of his generation. He recently made successful debut appearences with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, as well as the Orquesta Sinfónica de la RTVE in Madrid. A native of The Netherlands, based in France, he has worked with many orchestras in both countries, such as the Residentie Orchestra of The Hague, the North Netherlands Orchestra, the Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse and the Orchestre de l'Opéra de Rouen. In the fall of 2017, he will lead the South Netherlands Philharmonic in Massenet's Werther for Opera Zuid.

A laureate of the Antonio Pedrotti conducting competition in 2010, Pieter-Jelle de Boer is subsequently invited to work with the Orchestre National Bordeaux-Aquitaine, the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de LiègeFurthermore, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, the Bratislava Radio Orchestra and the Staatsorchester Braunschweig, accompanying soloists such as Pieter Wispelwey, Alena Baeva, Thierry Escaich, Béatrice Uria-Monzon and Michael Fabiano. His particular sensitivity to the human voice has led to a fruitful cooperation with the renowned Parisian chamber choir Accentus, culminating in critically acclaimed recordings of choral works by Leoš Janáček and Bruno Mantovani for Naïve. He also lead the SWR Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden und Freiburg in a Naxos recording of the rarely heard violin concertos of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco with soloist Tianwa Yang. As a pianist, he has recorded works by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, praised for their "shining musicality, even pure charm", and has equally taken part in a recording of the complete works for piano solo by Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Pieter-Jelle de Boer holds advanced degrees in piano and organ from the Amsterdam Conservatoire, followed by a Premier Prix in conducting at the Paris Conservatoire, where he was a student of Zsolt Nagy. He received further coaching from outstanding musicians such as Murray Perahia, Emanuel Ax and Peter Eötvös. An avid composer and transcriber, he has written Ciacona, for piano solo, and Danses concertantes, for organ, brass and percussion, premiered in 2009 at the festival Toulouse-les-orgues. His recent orchestration of the Suite for organ by Maurice Duruflé has been edited by Durand in 2016 and premiered by the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse.
